The Bellas Artes proposes to reflect on the dominant discourses of the history of art that were almost exclusively thought from a male perspective. The group of powerful works by Diana Dowek, Elba Bairon, Graciela Sacco, Liliana Porter, Mónica Millán, Noemí Gerstein and Raquel Forner invites us to think these issues to open the debate about the place of women in art and culture.
Along with this exhibition, the Museum also adheres to the initiative of the collective Nosotras Proponemos, an almost total blackout in the galleries of the Argentine museums, which will only illuminate the works by women artists, in order to make visible what, from the numbers and statistics, is uneven, since, historically, these institutions do not include more than five percent of works by women in their collections.
